Kenya rosemary (rosmarinus officialis) is an evergreen herb that does well in warm climates but withstands cool conditions impressively. It has green needle-like leaves with purplish-blue, white or pink flowers. Kenya rosemary is among the best in the world but you can also find the herb in Uganda, Italy, Spain, Egypt, Portugal, Dalmatia and Turkey.

Growing 3 to 5 feet in height, Kenya rosemary has strong anti-fungal, antimicrobial and antiseptic abilities. It has been a medicinal herb for ages especially in its native home of the Mediterranean. Here, Romans took advantage of the rosmarinic acid in the leaves, a soothing antioxidant, to treat headaches and pain.

Rosemary enjoys vibrant growth in these areas of Kenya: Imenti in Meru, Kikambala on the North Coast, the shores of Lake Nakuru in the Rift Valley, Kiambu and Murang’a in Central Province and Gilgil on the east-rift. These regions provide the basic growth conditions inclusive of loamy soil with an alkaline PH of 6 to 7 and warm weather with at least eight hours of daily sunlight. Though the plant does well in potted environments, for large-scale sourcing we go to family growers with sizable herbal gardens where you can find rosemary growing side by side with mint, parsley and basil.

We pack rosemary straight on the farm the same day of harvesting. We use special-purpose cartons that range from 1 kg to 3kg for ease of carrying. Each carton ho several bunches with various bunch sizes of either 30g, 50g, 80g or 100g.

Pre-cooling takes place immediately before shipping to reduce respiration and water loss from the rosemary leaves. Our handling department pre-cools Kenya rosemary at the recommended temperature of 5 degrees celsius before storing it in readiness for shipment at 1 degrees celsius.

The delivery takes place on the pre-agreed date of your choice. The herbs are transported to the Jomo Kenya International Airport by custom delivery vehicles. Depending on the part of the world we are shipping to, the order should be at your doorstep a few days after shipment if not on the actual date of delivery.

Our prices for Kenya rosemary are quite competitive and reflect both the season and the current market factors. We adjust accordingly so that we offer our customers value for money even as we balance the remuneration for family growers from whom we source the herb.

With our GAP certifications and allocation of KEBs standards in every shipment, Selina Wamucii doubles up as your partner of choice for obtaining rosemary and other fresh herbs that go above par in standard quality parameters. On top of that, you can expect year-round shipment of this herb which is available most of the year in Kenya.
