Ethiopia corn oil comes from the horn of Africa country’s most essential cereal. The production of maize and corn in the country reaches over 6 million MT using 2012 figures. In 2016 this had reached to 14 million tons. This yield has been increasing with enhanced large hectarage and more farmers who have increased the uptake of grain farming. The maize fields are spread across all different ecological climates of the country.

Maize or corn oil is rich in fatty acids and certain lipids that are good for the heart. The starch content, which we filter separately is also a great source of energy. With a 95 percent concentration of triglycerides, corn oil is a must have for persons fighting diabetes as they form the essential lipids in ß-cells that produce insulin.

We process corn oil through a number of steps. The first one is that of cleaning and hand-sorting the chaffs from the maize. Our processing plant experts carefully sort out the cobs, dirt, sand, the plant debris and other sediments. They do this at least three times before they can start the first step of processing.

The initial stage of Ethiopia maize oil extraction is that of steeping. This entails soaking the grains in boiling water of up to 50° Celsius for a period of 30 to 40 hours in deep tanks. This leads to bloated and softened grains. We then ground it into simple particles that removes the germinating part from the rest of the grain. We then float the entire content to the separation machine where the germinating parts which contain starch go their separate ways while the rest of the grains flow the other way.

The final step involves two key stages. The first one is that of milling starch from the germs. We do this essential part by simply washing the germs to collect the starch in a separate beaker. The next sage is that of corn oil extraction from the same washed germs. We first press out a total oil concentration of about 50 to 60 percent of the entire wet germs. In the next pass with the assistance of hexane solvent, almost all remaining oil is squeezed out to leave a negligible 1 to 2 percent.

Our Ethiopia maize/corn oil is usually free of any impurity and we pack it in crude form. We have diverse clear bottles that showcase the clear yellow virgin liquid. We provide PET bottles from 1 to 15 liters. We also have larger sizes of drums that can hold more than 15 liters per shipment.

We label each container or PET bottle of Ethiopia maize/corn oil to indicate the 100 percent natural ingredients. Each package comes with the date of processing, with a shelf life of an average two years.

We store Ethiopia corn oil in cool dry warehouses away from direct contamination. We keep it in temperatures of below 5° Celsius. We also transport the product under the same controlled climate conditions via custom refrigerated trucks.
