We source Tanzania kidney beans in the northern region around Kilimanjaro and Mwanza areas. Our family growers maintain a land extent of no more than 0.5 hectares, which makes it very easy to manage. Our harvesting method of Tanzania kidney beans is manual and meticulous. We begin on the 95th day after planting for the early maturing varieties or 20 days after that for the late setting types. We wait for the leaves and stalks to turn straw-colored. Our trained workers then lift off the entire plant so that it goes on to hang bottom side up to dry before threshing. They also opt to pick one dried pod at a time. Either way, threshing, and winnowing closely follow the picking date. Winnowing involves the removal of specks and debris so that the now free seeds can be ready for packing.

We pack Tanzania kidney beans in 15-pound produce boxes when they are scorched. Our other boxes come with capacities of between 12 and 14 kilograms. Our box types range from cartons to plastic crates to custom baskets. We stick produce labels on the side of the box inclusive of the cultivar’s name, the packing date, the net weight and the country of origin.

We store Tanzania kidney beans at the temperature range of above 7 degrees Celsius and less than 13 degrees Celsius. We keep the produce dry, with a moisture content of less than 14 percent.  We also transport the produce in this designate temperature range via our custom vehicles that are fitted with hydro-cooling equipment.
