Description
Epistephium ellipticum (also called Elliptic Helleborine, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to Europe and Asia. It has a thick stem and long, narrow leaves. It grows in wet meadows, marshes, and other wet habitats.
Uses & Benefits
Epistephium ellipticum is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and for landscaping. It is also used in traditional medicine to treat fever, diarrhea, and stomachache.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Epistephium ellipticum is a small, white-greenish, star-shaped flower with a yellowish-green center. The seeds are small and black. The seedlings are small and green.
Cultivation and Propagation
Epistephium ellipticum can be propagated by division or by seed. It prefers moist, well-drained soils in full sun or partial shade. It is best grown in a sheltered location, as it is susceptible to wind damage. It is also important to keep the soil evenly moist, as it does not tolerate drought.
