Herniaria riphaea (also called Riphaean Rock-rose, among many other common names) is a low-growing, evergreen, mat-forming shrub native to the Mediterranean region. It has small, grey-green leaves and yellow flowers. It grows in dry, sunny places, including rocky and sandy soils.

The flower of Herniaria riphaea is small and white, with yellow anthers. The seed is small and round, with a smooth surface. The seedlings are slender and have a single leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Herniaria riphaea can be propagated by division of the rhizomes in spring or autumn. It can also be grown from seed, which should be sown in spring and kept moist until germination. The plant prefers moist, shady soils and partial sun.
