Description
Eremophila linearis (also called Linear-leaved Eremophila, among many other common names) is a shrub that grows up to 2m in height. It is native to the arid regions of Australia and is found in open woodlands and on rocky hillsides. The leaves are grey-green and the flowers are yellow and tubular in shape.
Uses & Benefits
Eremophila linearis is a hardy, drought-tolerant shrub that is often used as a low-maintenance hedge or screen. It can also be used as a feature plant in a garden bed or as a windbreak.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Eremophila linearis is a bright yellow, tubular shaped flower with five petals. The seed is a small, round, black seed. The seedlings are small, with bright green leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Eremophila linearis is a small shrub which can be grown from cuttings or from seed. Cuttings should be taken from the current season's growth and placed in a well-draining medium such as sand or perlite. The cuttings should be kept moist and in a warm, bright location until they have rooted. Seeds should be sown in a well-draining medium and kept moist until germination occurs. Once the seedlings have emerged, they should be transplanted into individual pots and grown in a sunny location.
