Description
Eremophila lucida (also called 'Shining Emu Bush', among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree that is native to Australia. It grows up to 4 meters in height and has grey-green foliage with yellow flowers. It is found in arid and semi-arid regions in all mainland states and territories of Australia.
Uses & Benefits
Eremophila lucida is used for ornamental purposes, as a hedge, and as a windbreak. It is also used for erosion control and to provide habitat for wildlife.

Eremophila lucida has bright yellow flowers with a bell-shaped corolla and a long, slender tube. The seeds are small, dark brown and oval in shape. The seedlings are small and have a single pair of leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Eremophila lucida is a hardy, evergreen shrub that grows to around 1.5m high and 1.5m wide. It has a dense, rounded habit and is tolerant of a wide range of soils and climates. It can be propagated from cuttings taken in spring or summer, or from seed. The seed should be sown in a well-drained, sandy soil and lightly covered. Germination usually takes around two weeks.
