Description

Allophylus arboreus (also called Arboreus Allophylus, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree, usually up to 8 m tall. It is native to the Afrotropical region, occurring in Angola, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. It is found in dry woodland, bushland and grassland.

Uses & Benefits

Allophylus arboreus is used in traditional medicine for treating fever and malaria, and as an astringent and antiseptic. It is also used as a natural dye for fabrics and as a source of food for livestock.
