Cultivation and Propagation

Hesperomeles nitida can be propagated by seed or cuttings. Seeds should be sown in spring in a cold frame. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer. Cuttings of half-ripe wood, 5 - 8cm with a heel, July/August in a frame. Softwood cuttings in spring in a frame. Layering in late summer. Division of suckers in the dormant season.
