Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Hieracium macrotonoides has yellow flowers that are daisy-like in shape and have yellow centers. The seeds are small and black and are contained in a small, dry, papery capsule. The seedlings are small and have long, narrow leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Hieracium macrotonoides is a perennial herb native to Europe. It can be propagated by seed, division, or cuttings. When propagating by seed, sow the seeds in a well-draining soil mix in a sunny location. Keep the soil moist but not soggy. Division can be done in the spring or fall. Dig up the plant and divide the roots into several sections, each with a few leaves. Replant the sections in the same location. Cuttings can be taken in the spring or summer. Take a cutting of a stem with a few leaves and place it in a pot with a well-draining soil mix. Keep the soil moist and in a sunny location.
