With an origin in South Africa at the turn of the 1900s, the Boer goat literally means "farmers' goat". The breed has curved horns and a shaggy streamlined coat. Males average 114 kg while females 94 kg. According to the Boer Goat Breeders’ Association of Australia, genes of this breed first came to Australia and New Zealand in the 1980s and ‘90s. Since 1994, the Pedigreed Boer goat breed has become one of the most popular sources of meat.
2. Anglo-Nubian

The Anglo-Nubian breed originated in the UK from a cross of Egyptian, Eritrean or Indian flock with Swiss goats.
