Description
Macromitrium tocaremae (also called 'Tocarema's Bog Moss', among many other common names) is a species of moss in the family Macromitriaceae. It is found in the Northern Hemisphere, in Europe, Asia, and North America. It prefers wet habitats, such as bogs, marshes, and wet meadows.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Macromitrium tocaremae has small, yellowish-green flowers that are borne in clusters. The seeds are small, black and round in shape. The seedlings have small, oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Macromitrium tocaremae can be propagated by division or by seed. Division is best done in the spring or fall. Seeds should be sown in a light, well-drained soil mix and kept moist. Germination usually occurs within 4-6 weeks.
