Description
Macromitrium subcrenulatum (also called the 'crenulate-leaved moss', among many other common names) is a species of moss in the family Hypnaceae. It is a small, yellow-green moss with crenulate leaves, and is native to North America, Europe, and Asia. It is found in moist, shady habitats, such as woodlands, meadows, and along streams.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flowers of Macromitrium subcrenulatum are small and white, with a yellow center. The seeds are small and black, and the seedlings are small and green.
Cultivation and Propagation
Macromitrium subcrenulatum can be propagated by division or by seed. It prefers moist, well-drained soils in partial shade. It can tolerate full sun, but will require more frequent watering. It is relatively drought tolerant once established.
