Description
Thrixspermum crassifolium (also called 'Thick-Leaved Thrixspermum', among many other common names) is a species of orchid in the family Orchidaceae. It is found in the tropical and subtropical regions of India, China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. It grows in shady, wet, and humid habitats, such as forests, grasslands, and riverbanks.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Thrixspermum crassifolium has white flowers with yellow stamens and small, round seeds. The seedlings have a single, upright stem with broad, oval leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Thrixspermum crassifolium can be propagated by division or seed. It prefers moist, well-drained soil and partial shade. It is hardy to USDA Zone 8 and can tolerate temperatures down to 10°F (-12°C). It can be grown in containers or in the garden.
