Description
Thrixspermum cordulatum (also called 'Cordate Thrixspermum', among many other common names) is a species of orchid in the family Orchidaceae. It is found in the tropical and subtropical regions of India, China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. It grows in shady, wet, and humid habitats, such as forests, grasslands, and riverbanks.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Thrixspermum cordulatum is white and has five petals. The seed is small, round and black. The seedlings are thin and have long, narrow leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Thrixspermum cordulatum can be propagated by division or seed. It prefers moist, well-drained soil and partial shade. It is hardy to USDA Zone 8 and can tolerate temperatures down to 10°F (-12°C). It can be grown in containers or in the garden.
