Description
Oncidium manuelariasii (also called Manuel Arias' Oncidium, among many other common names) is a species of orchid native to Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. It is found in tropical and subtropical moist montane forests, at elevations of 1,200–2,000 m. It has a short stem with a single leaf and a spike of several yellow flowers.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Oncidium manuelariasii has yellowish-brown flowers with a white lip. The seeds are small and black. The seedlings are small and have a single, long, slender leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Oncidium manuelariasii can be propagated by division of the rhizome or by seed. It requires bright light and warm temperatures, and should be grown in a well-draining medium. Water regularly, but allow the soil to dry out between waterings.
