Description
Masdevallia olmosii (also called 'Olmosii's Masdevallia', among many other common names) is a small, perennial epiphyte with a single, erect stem and a few, alternate, leathery leaves. It is native to Colombia, Ecuador and Peru and usually found in cloud forests at elevations of 1,000-2,000 meters.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Masdevallia olmosii has small, yellow flowers with five petals. Its seeds are small and black. Its seedlings have small, oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Masdevallia olmosii is an epiphytic orchid native to the Andes Mountains in Peru and Bolivia. It prefers a well-drained, humus-rich soil mix in a shady spot. Propagation is done by division of the rhizomes or by seed. Seeds should be sown in a sterile, well-drained medium and kept in a warm, humid environment.
