Description
Liparis layardii (also called Layard's Liparis, among many other common names) is a terrestrial orchid species native to India, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and China. It grows in shady, moist, evergreen forests at elevations of 500–2000 m. This species has an erect stem, up to 20 cm tall, with two to four leaves. The flowers are yellowish-green, with a white lip.
Cultivation and Propagation
Liparis layardii can be propagated by division or by seed. It is best grown in a moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil in partial shade. It is tolerant of a wide range of temperatures and is hardy to USDA Zone 8.
