Gastrodia major (also called 'Tongkat Ali', among many other common names) is a terrestrial orchid found in tropical regions of Southeast Asia. It has a single, erect stem with a single, terminal flower. Its native regions are India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand, and it is found in tropical forests and grasslands.

The flower of Gastrodia major is white in color, and has a bell-shaped corolla. The seed is small and black, and the seedlings have a single cotyledon.
