                        Description
                        
                            Gastrodia boninensis (also called 'Bonin Orchid', among many other common names) is a small, terrestrial orchid found in the Bonin Islands, Japan. It has a single, fleshy, ovate leaf and a single flower with a white or yellowish-green labellum. It grows in humid forests, usually on the ground.                        
                     
                                
                                    
                        Uses & Benefits
                        
                            Gastrodia boninensis is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and as a houseplant. It is also used in traditional Chinese medicine for its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.

                            The flower of Gastrodia boninensis is white with a yellow lip and a short spur. The seed is a small, round, black seed with a hard outer coating.                         Cultivation and Propagation
                        
                            Gastrodia boninensis is a terrestrial orchid native to Southeast Asia. It can be propagated through division of the rhizome or by seed. It prefers a well-drained soil and bright, indirect light. It should be watered regularly, but not allowed to become soggy.
