Description
Didymoplexis pachystomoides (also called Pachystomoides Didymoplexis, among many other common names) is an epiphytic orchid species native to Central and South America. It has long, thin, light green leaves and produces small, white flowers with yellow and purple markings. It is found in humid, tropical forests in its native regions.
Uses & Benefits
Didymoplexis pachystomoides is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and as a houseplant. It is also used to make a herbal tea that is believed to have medicinal properties.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Didymoplexis pachystomoides has yellow flowers with five petals, and its seeds are small and black. Its seedlings have long, thin stems with small, oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Didymoplexis pachystomoides can be propagated by seed or cuttings. Seeds should be sown in a well-draining soil mix and kept moist. Cuttings should be taken from new growth and rooted in a well-draining soil mix. Both methods should be kept in a warm, humid environment with bright, indirect light. Once established, Didymoplexis pachystomoides should be watered regularly, fertilized every few weeks, and pruned to maintain a desired shape.
