Description
Dendrobium coloratum (also called 'Colored Dendrobium' and 'Coloratum Rock Orchid', among many other common names) is an epiphytic orchid species native to India, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia. It has short, thick pseudobulbs and long, thin, pointed leaves. It grows in humid, tropical forests, usually in the upper canopy of trees.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Dendrobium coloratum has white flowers with yellow centers and small, black seeds. The seedlings have small, oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Dendrobium coloratum is an epiphytic orchid that can be grown in a variety of media, including bark, sphagnum moss, and perlite. It prefers bright, indirect light and should be watered regularly. Propagation is done by division or by seed.
