Description
Bulbophyllum septatum (also called Seven-Lobed Bulbophyllum, among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the family Orchidaceae. It is an epiphytic or lithophytic plant, typically growing to a height of 10–20 cm. It is native to tropical regions of the world, including Southeast Asia, New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. It typically grows in humid forests, on tree trunks, and in other moist habitats.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Bulbophyllum septatum has small, white flowers that are clustered together at the end of the branches. The flowers are followed by small, round, green seed capsules that turn brown when ripe. The seedlings are small, with a single pair of opposite leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Bulbophyllum septatum is a perennial epiphyte that can be propagated by division or seed. It prefers partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. It can be grown in containers or in the ground. It is drought tolerant and can tolerate some frost.
