Description
Bulbophyllum alveatum (also called Alveate Bulbophyllum, among many other common names) is a species of flowering shrub native to Southeast Asia. It has glossy, dark green leaves and small, white flowers. It is found in the tropical and subtropical regions of Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand, and grows in a variety of habitats, including forests, woodlands, and savannas.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Bulbophyllum alveatum has small, white, star-shaped flowers with yellow centers. The seeds are small and black. Seedlings have a single pair of opposite leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Bulbophyllum alveatum is an epiphytic orchid native to tropical regions of Asia. It can be propagated by division or by seed. It prefers a well-draining, slightly acidic soil and should be kept in partial shade. It should be watered regularly during the growing season and fertilized with a balanced fertilizer every two weeks.
