Description
Strychnos scheffleri (also called Scheffler's Strychnos, among many other common names) is a species of shrub in the Loganiaceae family. It is a deciduous shrub that is native to Southeast Asia, and is found in dry savannas and woodlands. It has oblong leaves that are 3-6 cm long, and its flowers are yellowish-green and fragrant.
Cultivation and Propagation
Strychnos scheffleri is a small to medium-sized tree, growing up to 15 m tall. It is found in tropical and subtropical rainforests, from sea level up to 1,500 m. Propagation is by seed, which should be sown in a well-drained, sandy soil mix. Germination is usually rapid, and seedlings should be transplanted when they reach 10-15 cm in height.
