Description

Browningia hernandezii (also called Hernandez's Cactus, among many other common names) is a species of cactus native to the Andes of Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Colombia. It is a columnar cactus, growing to a height of up to 5 metres (16 ft) tall, with numerous branches. It grows in dry, rocky habitats.

Cultivation and Propagation

Browningia hernandezii is a columnar cactus native to the deserts of northern Chile and Argentina. It can be propagated by cuttings or seeds. Cuttings should be taken from the top of the plant and allowed to dry for a few days before planting. Seeds should be sown in a well-draining soil mix and kept warm and moist until germination occurs. Once established, Browningia hernandezii requires little water and can tolerate temperatures down to 25°F.
