Description
Protium cubense (also called Protium cubense, among many other common names) is a large tree native to the tropical forests of Central and South America. It has a rounded crown and a tall trunk, with rough, greyish bark. Its leaves are alternate, oblong-lanceolate, dark green in color, and up to 15 cm long. It is found in the tropical forests of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and Venezuela.

Protium cubense has small, white flowers, which are followed by small, round seed capsules. The seeds are small and black, and the seedlings have long, thin stems with small, oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Protium cubense is a perennial shrub that can be propagated from cuttings or by division. Cuttings should be taken in late spring or early summer and planted in moist, well-draining soil.
