Description
                        
                            Vernonia trachyphylla (also called 'Rough-leaved Vernonia', 'Rough-leaved Ironweed', 'Rough-leaved Ironplant' among many other common names) is an annual herb native to South America. It grows up to 0.5 m tall and has small, greyish-green leaves and small, purple flower heads. It prefers sunny, dry habitats and is commonly found in grasslands, open woodlands, and rocky hillsides.
