Description
Verbesina pterophora (also called Winged Verbesina, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It has a woody base and grows up to 30 cm tall. Its leaves are alternate, ovate-lanceolate, and up to 5 cm long. The flowers are yellow and borne in heads. It grows in dry, sandy, and rocky soils in open grasslands, scrublands, and woodlands.
