Description

Pilosella kozlowskyana (also called Kozlovsky's mouse-ear hawkweed, among many other common names) is a low-growing perennial herb that grows up to 15 cm tall. It has a hairy stem and leaves with toothed margins. It is native to the Balkans and is found in rocky meadows, grasslands, and open woodlands.

Cultivation and Propagation

Pilosella kozlowskyana can be propagated by seed or by division of the rootstock. Seeds should be sown in spring or autumn in a cold frame. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and grow them on in the greenhouse for their first winter. Plant them out into their permanent positions in late spring or early summer, after the last expected frosts. Division in spring. Larger divisions can be planted out direct into their permanent positions, though it is best to pot up the smaller divisions and grow them on in a cold frame until they are established.
