Description
Lessingianthus alegretensis (also called Alegrete lessingianthus, among many other common names) is a small, evergreen, perennial shrub native to South America. It has small, oval leaves and small, yellow, star-shaped flowers. It is found in dry, rocky habitats.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Lessingianthus alegretensis has small, yellowish-green flowers that are arranged in a spike-like structure. The seeds are small and brown, and the seedlings are small, with a single leaf and a short stem.
Cultivation and Propagation
Lessingianthus alegretensis can be propagated from seed, which should be sown in a well-draining, sandy soil mix. The seed should be lightly covered and kept moist until germination occurs. Once established, Lessingianthus alegretensis is drought tolerant and prefers full sun. It can also be propagated from stem cuttings taken in late summer or early autumn.
