Heliopsis helianthoides (also called false sunflower, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the eastern United States. It has a woody stem and grows up to 1.5 m tall. It is found in dry meadows, open woodlands, and rocky slopes at an altitude of 1000-2000 m.
