Description
Helichrysum molestum (also called creeping everlasting, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to Europe and North Africa. It has a single stem with a few branches and grows up to 30 cm in height. The leaves are lanceolate and arranged in opposite pairs. The flowers are yellow and daisy-like. It grows in dry and sandy soils in open areas, such as grasslands and roadsides.
Uses & Benefits
Helichrysum molestum is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and as a medicinal plant for treating fever, malaria, and other ailments. It is also used as a natural insect repellent and as a source of food for livestock.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The Helichrysum molestum flower is yellow and daisy-like, with a yellow center and a yellow-orange outer ring of petals. The seed is a small, dark brown achene. The seedlings have a single pair of opposite leaves that are lanceolate in shape.
Cultivation and Propagation
Helichrysum molestum is a perennial shrub that can be propagated from cuttings. Cuttings should be taken from the tips of the stems and planted in moist soil. The soil should be kept moist but not wet. The cuttings should be placed in a warm, humid environment with bright, indirect light. Once the cuttings have rooted, they can be transplanted into larger containers or into the garden.
