Description
Echinops guineensis (also called African Globe Thistle, among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the daisy family Asteraceae. It is native to Africa, and is found in dry, open habitats. It is a perennial herb with a woody base, growing to a height of 0.5–1.5 m (1 ft 8 in–4 ft 11 in). The leaves are alternate, simple, and lanceolate. The flower heads are 1–2 cm (0.39–0.79 in) in diameter, and are surrounded by spiny bracts.
