Description
Vochysia pumila (also called Dwarf vochysia, among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the Vochysiaceae family. It is an evergreen shrub, growing up to 8 m tall. It is native to the Amazon rainforest in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. It is found in tropical moist lowland forests, tropical moist montane forests, and wet premontane forests.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Vochysia pumila has small, white flowers, with its seed being a small, brown capsule. Its seedlings have two to three frond-like leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Vochysia pumila can be propagated by division or by spores. It can be grown in a variety of substrates, including gravel, sand, and soil. It prefers a moist environment with moderate to high light. It should be fertilized regularly with liquid fertilizer.
