Description
Vitis lanceolatifoliosa (also called Lanceolate-leaved Grape, among many other common names) is a deciduous vine native to South America. It grows up to 10 m tall and has leaves that are lanceolate, with a pointed tip, and are up to 8 cm long. It is found in dry forests, scrublands, and rocky areas in Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
Uses & Benefits
Vitis lanceolatifoliosa is used in traditional Chinese medicine for treating fever, malaria, and dysentery. It is also used as an ornamental plant in gardens.
Cultivation and Propagation
Vitis lanceolatifoliosa is propagated by division or by seed. Division should be done in the spring, when the plant is actively growing. Seeds should be sown in the spring in a cold frame. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer.
