Description
Cissus duboisii (also called 'Dubois' Ivy', among many other common names) is a woody, evergreen, perennial climber native to tropical Africa. It has glossy, dark green, ovate leaves and small, white flowers. It is found in forests, woodlands, and on rocky outcrops.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flowers of Cissus duboisii are small, white in color, and have five petals. The seeds are small, black, and have a hard outer shell. The seedlings have a single stem with small, oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Cissus duboisii can be propagated by stem cuttings or by layering. For stem cuttings, take a cutting from the stem of the plant and allow it to dry for a few days before planting it in a pot filled with a well-draining potting mix. Layering involves bending a stem of the plant and burying it in the soil. The stem will then root and form a new plant. Both methods should be done in spring or summer for best results.
