Description

Ravenala grandis (also called Grand Traveler's Tree, among many other common names) is a large perennial herb that can grow up to 10m tall. It is native to Madagascar, and is found in moist forests and grasslands. Its leaves are fan-shaped, and its flowers are white and fragrant.

Cultivation and Propagation

Ravenala grandis is a small tree that can reach up to 8 m (26 ft) in height. It is best grown in full sun and well-drained soil. Propagation is usually done by seed, which should be sown in spring or summer. The seed should be soaked in warm water for 24 hours before sowing to help speed up germination. Once the seedlings have grown to a height of around 10 cm (4 in), they can be transplanted into their permanent positions.
