Description
Smilax luzonensis (also called Luzon Sarsaparilla, among many other common names) is a woody, perennial, evergreen vine native to the Philippines. It has large, leathery leaves and small, white flowers. It grows in moist, shady areas such as woodlands, swamps, and thickets.

Smilax luzonensis has small, white flowers in axillary umbels. Its seeds are small, round and black. The seedlings are slender and have a single cotyledon.
Cultivation and Propagation
Smilax luzonensis can be propagated by seed or division. Seeds should be sown in spring or summer in a well-drained, sandy soil. Division should be done in spring or autumn. The plant should be grown in full sun or partial shade and in moist, well-drained soil.
