Description

Pentaceras australis (also called 'Southern Pentaceras', among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae. It is a shrub or small tree, growing up to 5 m tall. It is native to tropical Africa, from Sudan to South Africa, and Madagascar. It grows in dry woodland, bushland and grassland.

Pentaceras australis is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and is also used for its essential oils which have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Pentaceras australis has small, white flowers with yellow centers. The seeds are small, black and round. The seedlings are small and have thin, light green leaves.
