Description

Sorbus chengii (also called Cheng's Rowan, among many other common names) is a deciduous tree native to the mountains of Central and Southwestern China. It has an upright habit, with lobed leaves and white flowers. It grows in montane forests and scrublands, at elevations of up to 3,000 m.

Cultivation and Propagation

Sorbus chengii is a deciduous shrub that can grow up to 5 m tall. It prefers full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Propagation is by seed or semi-hardwood cuttings in summer. It is best to sow the seed in a cold frame as soon as it is ripe in autumn. Semi-hardwood cuttings can be taken in late summer or early autumn.
