Description
Potamogeton chamissoi (also called Chamisso's Pondweed, among many other common names) is an aquatic plant native to Europe, Asia and North America. It is a submerged plant with long, narrow leaves that are usually arranged in whorls of three. It grows in shallow, still or slow-moving water, and is found in ponds, lakes, ditches and slow-moving rivers.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Potamogeton chamissoi has small, white flowers with four petals and four sepals. The seeds are small, dark brown and oval-shaped. The seedlings have a single, long, narrow leaf.
Where to Find Potamogeton chamissoi
Potamogeton chamissoi is found in shallow, slow-moving water bodies in the northern United States and Canada, as well as in parts of Europe and Asia.
