Description
Yushania wardii (also called Chinese mountain bamboo, among many other common names) is a species of bamboo native to East Asia. It is a clumping bamboo, growing in dense clumps with stems up to 28 m tall and 2 cm in diameter. It is found in moist forests, along streams, and in other areas with high humidity. It is also found in China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Yushania wardii has small, white flowers with yellowish-green stripes on the tepals. The seeds are small, black and glossy. The seedlings have narrow, linear leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Yushania wardii is a perennial grass that grows in clumps and can reach a height of 2-3 feet. It prefers moist, well-drained soils in full sun to partial shade. Propagation is done by division of the clumps or by seed. Seeds should be sown in spring or early summer in a well-prepared seedbed.

Yushania wardii can be found in the southeastern United States, primarily in the states of Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.
