Description

Poa royleana (also called Royle's Meadow-grass, among many other common names) is a perennial grass native to Europe and parts of Asia. It has a creeping rhizome system and grows in moist meadows, pastures, and along roadsides. The leaves are flat, smooth, and have a purplish tint. The inflorescence is a panicle with spikelets that are 2-4 mm long.

Uses & Benefits

Poa royleana is used as a forage grass for livestock, as well as for erosion control and as a cover crop. It is also used in landscaping and as an ornamental grass.
