                        Description
                        
                            Harpachne bogdanii (also called Bogdan's foxtail grass, among many other common names) is a perennial grass native to South America. It is found in wet, marshy areas, as well as in dry, sandy soils.                        
                     
                                
                                    
                        Uses & Benefits
                        
                            Harpachne bogdanii is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and parks. It is also used as a windbreak and for erosion control.                        
                     
                                
                                                    
                        Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
                        
                            The flower of Harpachne bogdanii is a small, greenish-brown spikelet, which is surrounded by a pair of long, narrow bracts. The seed is a small, three-sided nutlet, and the seedlings are slender and have a tuft of short, fine hairs at the tip.                        
                     
                                
                
                
                                    
                        Cultivation and Propagation
                        
                            Harpachne bogdanii is a perennial grass that grows in clumps and is native to temperate Asia. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Propagation is by seed or division. Seeds should be sown in spring in well-prepared soil and lightly covered. Division should be done in spring or autumn.
