Flower, Seeds and Seedlings

Cultivation and Propagation
Calamagrostis koelerioides is a perennial grass native to the mountains of Central Asia. It is a low-growing grass that can reach up to 1.5 feet in height. It prefers moist, well-drained soils and full sun. Propagation is best done by division in the spring or by seed. Seeds should be sown in the spring in a well-prepared seedbed and lightly covered. It is a good choice for erosion control and can be used in meadows, as a ground cover, or in naturalized areas.
