                        Description
                        
                            Apochloa lorea (also called Lorea grass, among many other common names) is a perennial grass native to Brazil. It has thin, upright stems with long, narrow leaves. It prefers moist, well-drained soils in full sun or partial shade and is tolerant of drought and heat.                        
                     
                                
                                    
                        Uses & Benefits
                        
                            Apochloa lorea is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and as a medicinal plant.                        
                     
                                
                                                    
                        Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
                        
                            Apochloa lorea has small white flowers with yellowish-green sepals and petals. The seeds are small, round and black. The seedlings are initially small and delicate, growing to a height of about 20 cm.                        
                     
                                
                
                
                                    
                        Cultivation and Propagation
                        
                            Apochloa lorea can be propagated by seed or division. Seeds should be sown in spring in a well-drained soil and kept moist. Division should be done in spring or autumn. Plants should be grown in a sunny position in a well-drained soil.                        
                     
                                                    
                        Where to Find Apochloa lorea
                        
                            Apochloa lorea is native to India, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. It can be found in tropical and subtropical forests and along riverbanks.
