It has succulent-like, thick, glossy, dark green leaves with a red underside. It is native to tropical regions of Central and South America, and grows in humid, shaded habitats.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flowers of Peperomia fugax are small, greenish-white, and borne in short, dense spikes. The seeds are tiny, round and black. The seedlings are small, with round, fleshy leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Peperomia fugax is a tropical evergreen perennial that grows best in moist, well-drained soils in partial shade. Propagation is usually done by stem cuttings or division. Cuttings should be taken from healthy, mature stems and planted in a moist, well-draining potting medium. Division is done by carefully separating the root ball of the plant into two or more sections and replanting each section in a separate pot. Both methods should be done in the spring or summer when the plant is actively growing.
