Description

Glochidion azaleon (also called Azaleon glochidion, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree, native to South America. It has a rounded crown and grows up to 10 m tall. Its leaves are alternate, ovate-lanceolate, with a serrated margin. It is found in the understory of tropical rainforest and in open areas.

Cultivation and Propagation

When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer. Division can be done in spring or autumn. Larger clumps can be replanted direct into their permanent positions, though it is best to pot up smaller clumps and grow them on in a cold frame until they are rooting well. Plant them out in the spring.
