Description
Pandanus lais (also called Lais Screw Pine, among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the Pandanaceae family. It is native to the Indian Ocean, Southeast Asia, and northern Australia. It is found in coastal areas, such as beaches, mangroves, and estuaries.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Pandanus lais is yellow or white with five petals. The seed is a small, brown, oval-shaped capsule. The seedlings are small and have oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Pandanus lais can be propagated by seed or cuttings. Seeds should be sown in a well-drained soil mix and kept moist. Cuttings should be taken from healthy plants and rooted in a moist soil mix. Both methods require bright, indirect light and temperatures of 18-21°C (65-70°F).
